Targets for school year 2014-15

•Teachers will use MEL-Con as a tool to assess comprehension and promote literacy.
•Teachers will use close reading strategies to promote literacy across the disciplines.
•Teachers will focus on building reading stamina to ensure college readiness.
•Teachers school wide will support Common Core standards.
•Teachers will utilize graphic organizers across the disciplines.
•All teachers will do their part to promote a school wide culture of literacy

One Book One Curie

This is an initiative to promote literacy by highlighting one book that all students are encouraged to read.

Sustained Silent Reading

This is a school wide initiative that promotes literacy by engaging students in activities that ask them to choose high interest books, magazines, and newspapers and engage in reading silently.
